TSB - FLASH: Oil Change Monitor Alerts Prematurely
April 03rd, 2008 | Category: Jeep JK TSB & Recalls, Vehicle Performance TSB

    NUMBER: 08-013-08
    GROUP: Vehicle Performance
    DATE: April 03, 2008

    SUBJECT:
FLASH: Oil Change Monitor Alerts Prematurely

    OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

    MODELS:
    2008 (JK) Wrangler

NOTE: This bulletin applies to models equipped with a 3.8L engine (Sales Code EGT) built prior to February 22, 2008 (MDH 0222XX).

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a premature alert of the Oil Change Monitor. This alert is displayed as “CHANgE OIL” on the instrument cluster odometer. This condition may be intermittent or may occur after a battery disconnect has occurred. The customer may be
more aware of this condition if the Oil Change Monitor alerts shortly following an oil change.

Do not confuse this condition for an Oil Change Monitor alert due to the Oil Change Monitor not being reset following an oil change.

May 17th, 2007 | Category: Electrical TSB, Jeep JK TSB & Recalls, Vehicle Performance TSB

    NUMBER: 08-010-07
    GROUP: Vehicle Performance
    DATE: May 17, 2007

    SUBJECT:
    FLASH: DTC’s C121A / C2205 - Steering Angle Sensor - Not Initialized / Internal

    OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) with new software.

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may experience an illumination of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) lamp on the vehicle instrument cluster. The ESP lamp illumination may be due to the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s):

C121A - Steering Angle Sensor Not Initialized

C2205 - Steering Angle Sensor Internal

This condition, and DTC’s, may be intermittent. If the above DTC’s occur during a drive cycle, then the ESP lamp will remain illuminated until the end of that drive cycle (key off).

TSB - StarSCAN®/StarMOBILE™ Abort Recovery Procedures
July 12th, 2006 | Category: Jeep JK TSB & Recalls, Vehicle Performance TSB

    NUMBER: 18-001-06 REV. A
    GROUP: Vehicle Performance
    DATE: July 12, 2006

    SUBJECT:
    StarSCAN®/StarMOBILE™ Abort Recovery Procedures

    OVERVIEW:
This Bulletin provides guidelines to minimize flash reprogramming problems and recovery
procedure information for failed flash attempts.

    DISCUSSION:
Occasionally a flash update procedure may not complete properly and/or the diagnostic
equipment may lock up or become disconnected during the procedure. Flash
Reprogramming is a “CRITICAL PROCESS”; an error may result in a no-start/failed
control module. Most modules, encountering an interruption or failure while
reprogramming, are recoverable. Replacing a module that is recoverable is not covered
under the provisions of the warranty.

This service bulletin covers items that may cause this condition, a process to restart the
flash procedure, and miscellaneous information that will help prevent unnecessary
    replacement of control modules.

TSB - StarSCAN® Vehicle Scan Report Availability
April 26th, 2006 | Category: Electrical TSB, Jeep JK TSB & Recalls, Vehicle Performance TSB

    NUMBER: 08-017-06
    GROUP: Vehicle Performance
    DATE: April 26, 2006

    SUBJECT:
    StarSCAN® Vehicle Scan Report Availability

    DISCUSSION:
The following procedure explains how to create a Vehicle Scan Report. This report
provides you, the technician, a valuable tool in diagnosis, repair, and repair verification of
today’s vehicles. By incorporating this into the DaimlerChrysler’s 6-Step Troubleshooting
process, the results will be repairs that take less time and increase your Fixed-First-Visit
    scores.

These reports can be viewed and printed on a Windows PC, such as your dealer’s
TechCONNECT client. The file will open in Internet Explorer and does not require any
    special printing requirements.

Many successful dealerships make ‘before’ and ‘after’ repair, Vehicle Scan Reports to
validate the repair. Keep these reports with the hard copy of the repair order.
The DaimlerChrysler Academy training course “Body Electrical Part 3 - Advanced
Diagnosis”, course code 0641816, provides understanding and usage of the Vehicle Scan
    Report.
