    Freedom Top - Header Seal - Water Leak In Area Of Dash
    MODEL:
    2007 - 2008 (JK) Wrangler
    NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a Freedom Modular Hard Top (Sales code VK0). Vehicles equipped with Dual Tops (Soft Top and Freedom Top) should have this bulletin performed with the Freedom Top installed only (NOT THE SOFT TOP). The replacement header seal may initially cause a soft top wind noise.
    OVERVIEW:
    This bulletin involves the replacement of the header seal and its associated butyl adhesive.
    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
    This bulletin will address water leaks due to the FRONT HEADER SEAL at the roof.
    Water leaks associated with the header seal can cause the front floor and/or instrument panel to get wet. Water leaking into the vehicle at the B-Pillar or anywhere further back in the vehicle are not covered in this Service Bulletin. Water leaks in these areas are addressed in other Service Bulletins and eFiles. Refer to those Service Bulletins and eFiles as necessary.

    Wind-Like Sound At Outer Ends Of The Sunrider Soft Top Windshield Header

    OVERVIEW:
    This bulletin involves replacement of the left and right soft top front side bows.

    MODELS:
    2007 - 2008 (JK) Wrangler

    NOTE: This bulletin applies to two door Wrangler vehicles equipped with a Sunrider soft top (sales code GWK) and built on or between March 01, 2007 (MDH 0301XX) and September 30, 2007 (MDH 0930XX).

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
    The customer may experience a wind-like sound at the outboard top corners of the windshield. The condition may be present on vehicles equipped with a Sunrider soft top. The condition may be due to the Sunrider soft top header being over-flush at the outboard corners to the windshield framer.

    NOTE: This condition only applies to two door Wranglers equipped with a Sunrider soft top. The condition does not apply to two door vehicles equipped with a standard soft top.

    Whistle-Like Sound Due To Gap Between Leading Edge Of Header Seal And Windshield Frame

    OVERVIEW:
    This bulletin involves measuring the gap between the leading edge of the windshield header seal to the windshield frame and, if necessary, replacement of the windshield header seal.

    MODELS:
    2007 - **2008** (JK) Wrangler

    NOTE: ** This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or between May 14, 2007 (MDH 0514XX) and August 24, 2007 (MDH 0824XX). **

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
    The customer may experience a whistle-like sound along the top of the windshield. This sound may be caused by the position of the windshield header seal to the windshield frame. This condition may occur if a gap, that is greater than 1 mm (0.040 inch), is present between the leading edge of the windshield header seal and the top of the windshield frame.

    OVERVIEW:
    This bulletin involves removing excess butyl adhesive from the ends of the windshield header seal.

    MODELS:
    2007 - **2008** (JK) Wrangler

    NOTE: ** This bulletin applies to Wrangler vehicles equipped with a soft top or combination top, built on or before August 24, 2007 (MDH 0824XX). **

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
    The customer may notice an excessive amount of adhesive (butyl) at the top of the A-Pillar, left and/or right side. The excess butyl adhesive comes from the windshield header seal. If sufficient heat is present, the adhesive may adhere to the windshield, door frame, door seal, or door glass. Under certain conditions, the adhesive may pull on the door seal and loosen the seal from the door frame.

    This bulletin involves the replacement of the two rear tailgate retainer (bar) brackets.

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
    The customer may notice that the left or right rear lower corner of the soft top may not stay tucked to the body. Closer inspection may reveal that the plastic bracket, used to secure the rear tailgate retainer (bar) in place, may not stay attached to the rail retainer on the body.

    The customer may not be able to unlatch the seat back on the rear seat. This condition may be due to the rear seat back latch release cable. The lug on the end of the release cable may come free of the release handle.

    Windnoise along left and/or right A-pillar at speeds above 30 kph (20 mph). Sound is a
    rush/”open” cavity sound, located at the mid to upper A-pillar.

    OVERVIEW:
    This bulletin involves replacement of the windshield header seal.

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
    The customer may notice a water leak at the top of either left or right A-Pillar. The source of the water leak may be the adhesive used to retain the outer ends of the windshield header seal to the top of the windshield frame. The adhesive may degrade over time and
    loose its capability to adhere to surfaces.
